International writers and artists including Paul Theroux, Henning Mankell, Kristin Davis and Peter Capaldi have teamed up with Oxfam to call on the World Bank to temporarily freeze large scale investments in developing countries until regulations are tightened.

These 'land grabs' by foreign buyers are said to evict poorer local land owners, leaving them destitute. Supporters are asked to sign the charity's online petition.
